Almost rivalling Rio in size and spectacularity (is that a word?), Popcorns annual Carnival celebration has grown almost exponentially sin...ce it’s inception. Capoeira dancers fought high kicking and acrobatic duels, Rikardo and the Popcorn dancers performed slick choreographed routines, Brazilian carnival dancers shook more tail feathers than a full series of Strictly and Brazilian band Natema rocked with their original fusion of electronic beats and traditional instruments. On the decks über hottie Jonesey was joined by the Sharp Boys and birthday boy Steven Sharp, and the capacity crowd was both a riot of colour and energy. Its official, there’s no need to spend 10 hours on a plane to Sao Paolo anymore, we have the whole experience right here in Charing Cross.See more

Monday 31st January 2011

For as long as we can remember Monday nights have been dominated by just one club, Popcorn, with its mega theme parties, superb array of DJ's and music genres and a young, hot, up-for-it crowd.  It seems the Popcorn crew can do no wrong.  We popped along last week for Alan K's HUGE set, and together with Jonesey and Jamie Hammond, they kept the main floor packed from the minute the doors opened 'til the lights came on at silly o'clock.  Upstairs Terry T Rex was at his urban best in the RnB room and the stage was on fire with the hot choreographed Popcorn dancers.  We LOVE this night and were it not for the nasty 4 letter word (work) we'd be there every week.  Coming up they have another huge production party Royal House (7th Feb) and another week later for Valentines Day.  Make a date, pull a sicke do whatever ever it takes to get there!  See you on the dance floor!

Monday 27th Dec 2010 Michael & Marcella Woods

Popcorn continued the festive season with raunchy gusto when the team welcomed a naked Santa, muscle elves and tranny helpers on stage a couple of Mondays back.  Special guests for the evening were borther and sister DJ and vocalist duo Michael and Marcella Woods, who put on a stunning show in front of a cheering crowd whilst over in the Departure Lounge a hot mix of lads and ladies mingled and parited in the Christmas atmosphere.

Popcorn residents Jonesey, Alan K and Jamie Hammond also took to the decks churning out a marathon of upfront progressive house, Secret Discotheque hammered out pop & retro in the stage bar and Terry T-Rex had the star bar jamming to RnB and hip hop.

Monday 25th October - Cirque Du Freak - Halloween @ Heaven

Popcorn kicked off Halloween week on Monday with a spectacular night featuring one of their infamous full-on shows. Featuring monks, nuns, drag queens, zombies, possessed muscle boys, severed heads and more blood and guts than Jamie Oliver's new meat restaurant Barbacoa, the ensemble ran amok through the crowd, did a brilliant choreographed Michael Jackson-esque dance routine on a raised central crucifix and finished up amid an abattoir of limbs on the main stage. Uber hot freak on the decks Jonesey was joined by resident guests Alan K and percussion maestro David H to provide a mind-blowing house experience for the capacity crowd, while Queen of the Damned Adrianna hosted the leaf-strewn entombed Departure Lounge, Secret Discotheque presented a retro pop halloween riot in the Stage Bar
and Terry T-Rex played dirty RnB and Hip Hop in the Star Bar. A great night at Popcorn and refreshing to see a club put so much in to a production to entertain the crowd rather than relying on a watered down offering of a budget pumpkin and a white sheet, Cirque du Freak was Hammer House Horror at it’s best.

Monday 13th September Popcorn's 13th Birthday party "Exposed"

Unlucky for some, but clearly not Heaven, Popcorn celebrated their 13th birthday last Monday in the style befitting the iconic status the venue holds in the gay scene and our hearts. All the stops were pulled out for an evening of hedonism and debauchery as they 'Exposed' themselves for us. The main show saw stomping storm troopers in black hotpants, nude naked girls, hard boys and a tranny Gaga parade thru the audience to 'Alejandro' and perform a slickly choreographed routine on the central dias with balloon drops, confetti cannons, glistening torsos, high lifts and even higher kicks. A couple of hours later and yet another show, this time to Madonna's 'Erotica', saw a writing mass of horny nuns stripping off their bad boys with whipping, bondage and general abuse being the order of the day. Main floor music came courtesy of lickable Jonesey, muscle stud Jamie Hammond and dj competition winner Triper whilst upstairs Terry T Rex played to a packed RnB room. Monday nights have never been so good.

Monday 31st may 2010 - Amazon!

Last Monday, and closing the bank holiday in style, Popcorn threw another of their rocking theme parties with tropical production, palm trees and vines throughout as we were transported to the Amazon for a steamy, loin-cloth-clad danceathon of up-front house and R'n'B. Sex-on-a-stick Jonesey and lovely Lisa German ruled the main floor while Big Al cooked up a storm and fed the masses from the stage (no botulism BBQ jokes this time - honest!). There was also Natema playing live Brazilian beats and electronica and live percussion throughout the night from Brother Snare. Elsewhere Terry T-Rex played R'n'B, Hip Hop and Urban chart in the Star Bar, Terry Vietheer and Leonardo Glovibes went Housey in the back bar and the Popcorn dancers set the temperatures soaring with their slick routines. Luckily there were plenty of ice cold drinks on tap to stop us imploding - phew!

Monday 22nd March 2010 Rio Beach Party

It was sun, sand and sangria all the way at Heaven this week as, in true 'Guys Gone Wild' style, Popcorn presented their Spring Break beach party. The stage was transformed into a desert island with deck chairs and parasols, cocktails by the jug and Big Al's Botulism BBQ. Jonsey entered the spirit by djing in über tight swimming shorts (VERY hot!) before handing over to special guest dj Mikey D for a superb uplifting summer-feel set. Super hot gogo boys n girls titillated the packed main room before a fashion show by seven hunks in trunks showcased the latest collections Rio Beach have instore and online. There were CD giveaways, a holiday to be won and Ibiza-style hedonism all the way til closing, oh and did we mention they have possibly the hottest mid-week crowd in the capital?

Monday 19th 2010 April Flesh Wars

Popcorn at Heaven, consistently the busiest night in the capital every Monday, went all Greco-Roman last week as they searched for new hot totty to perform every week in an evening of 'Flesh Wars'. With a £1200 prize package on offer that included cash, a professional photoshoot and a dance contract with Popcorn, competition was FIERCE as the 12 contenders took turns on the poles along with the resident sex-bombs Anderson, Thiago et al. There were a few surprise entrants (what was that with a pineapple on his head!?), some creative costumes, a gender-bending tranny in a bikini and a straight muscle man in a thong - 'variety' was definitely the mot du jour, but after several rounds and debating by the judges, the uber sexy Tom and thong-man Martin were crowned 'best in show'. Major tracks were supplied by the ultra-lickable Jonsey and Mr Alan K on the main floor and a plethora of talent across the 3 other rooms catering for all aural tastes and the sexy young crowd. Top totty, top class, top night!

Monday 5th July 2010 Royal House - Royal Pride

Popcorn kicked off July (and closed the Pride weekend) with a special edition of Royal House 'Trooping The Colours' last Monday featuring an extended 5 hour set from the Sharp Boys, and considering most of London had been out on the razz for 3 days solid (or was that just us?), the main floor was packed with connoisseurs of uplifting vocal house music delivered in George and Steven's own inimitable style. Also grinding the wheels of steel was Popcorn resident (and possibly London's sexiest DJ) Jonesey whose anthems had the super hot gogos and drag dancers working the poles to within an inch of their lives. Taking a break from a summer of madness on Ibiza to perform just one London show, Sam Obernik gave an electric performance of legendary club hits 'It just won't do' and 'Baditude' as well as new Kid Massive collaboration 'Home' that had the crowd literally baying for more. Elsewhere in the club the RnB room was it's usual bootyshakin badness, the Departure Lounge was stuffed with cuties and hotties (including behind the bar) and the Stage Bar was a classic house heaven. Simply superb.

Monday 30th November 2009 Safer Sex Ball

London's massive mixed Monday night mash-up Popcorn continues unabated at Heaven, and last week was their annual Safe Sex Ball, a charity fundraiser for Amnesty International. Four rooms of super tuneage included house, R'n'B and electro, and Jonesey's set in the main room had a distinctive big-party-Ibiza-anthem feel to it. Coinciding with their 30th birthday (the celebrations for which are due to last long in to 2010!), a trademark super-hot show saw Natalie lead a posse of dancers in a rendition of David Guetta's 'Where Love Lives!' before the scorching Popcorn gogos (including last weeks QX coverboy Craig) lit up the stage and set our temperature soaring. A fantastic night which shows why Heaven is still at the top of the tree even after 30 years.

When we spoke to Big Al from Popcorn, he said, "I'd really like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came down and generously donated to our chosen charity and helped raised ??1000 for Amnesty International. No one has a lot of money to spare at the moment and the fact that people donated so willingly and showed support to this amazing cause is just fantastic!"

26th October 2009 Asylum

Having not been down to Popcorn at Heaven on a Monday for a while, we were taken aback by the size of the crowds both outside radiating in queues from the door, and inside filling all the rooms of the cavernous club. It being the start of Halloween week, the theme was 'Asylum' with Queen Bee Big Al dressed as Norman Bates' mother, and all the staff and many of the punters looking like extras from MJ's Thriller video, Buffy or worse. An uber visual stage show took the same theme this time with a Lizzie Boardman Big Al playing with a pigs head to the tune of Bjork's 'It's oh so quiet' before going mad with an axe and de-limbing the rest of the cast, cue copious amounts of blood. The slick Popcorn dancers were on hand with a bitingly choreographed number as were the super-hot Heaven gogo's in their blood-splattered tighty-whities, there were 4 rooms of the best upfront and underground house music and RnB, a cinema room and the DP VIP room converted in to a set worthy of a Hollywood horror movie. Monday mayhem at the Popcorn Asylum was Major!
